Hi, I’ve been struggling with the problem of hair loss. I was put on a low dose of minoxidil 1mg (or 2.5mg) for hair loss but now my hair looks healthier. I started taking finasteride 5mg, which also has the same side effects. I’ve been struggling to have my hair grow to the point of losing my hair. I know there are different types of hair loss but with the finasteride, I can’t hold my hair. I’ve taken a daily minoxidil, which has been fine for me but now I’m worried that I might have to take the finasteride again. Can anyone help?
Hi,
I’ve been on the finasteride for about a year now. I’ve been losing my hair for about four months now. I am now bald and look like my hair is thinning as it’s been falling out. I’m worried that I might have to stop taking finasteride and take a new hair loss medication. Do you think I’d have to stop taking it? Any advice would be helpful.
Thanks in advance!
I had heard that finasteride was the only hair loss treatment for hair loss but I haven’t heard much about it. I’m worried that you could have it over time. I’ve read about it on other forum and it’s not the best way to handle the side effects. However, I know that I’m going to need to take finasteride again. So any advice?
I’d definitely just take finasteride at the first sign of any side effects and avoid it. I have taken the 5mg and have found that it works well for me.
Hi
Thank you so much for your reply! My hair started to fall out, but my hair looks healthier in the early stages. The finasteride stopped working after about a month, which was good! I’m really worried about it. I’ll talk to my GP about it. But I’m still worried and hope to get my hair back.
You’re very welcome!
Hello,
I have been on the finasteride for about a year and I am losing my hair. It seems to be the only thing that works for me. However, I’m worried about it. I know that you’re not alone, but there are other hair loss medicines that work well for you. You can take minoxidil and finasteride and talk to your GP about them.
I’m going to talk to my GP about it. But, I’m not sure if it’s the best way for me to handle it. I’d definitely try finasteride at the first sign of any side effects, and talk to my GP about it.
Thanks again,
I’m losing my hair.
You can also take a topical minoxidil as well. It’s usually used to treat high blood pressure. You can also use minoxidil to treat hair loss in men.
It should be possible to get a prescription from your GP about it. If you do, then you can take finasteride or minoxidil.
The FDA is investigating the possible adverse reactions associated with the medication Propecia, an oral prescription drug used to treat male pattern baldness. The drug is known to produce a significant side effect that may need to be monitored by a doctor. While these reactions are common, they are uncommon and not usually life threatening.
The side effects of Propecia, including decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, ejaculation disorders, and decreased semen volume, can be troubling. While the FDA is not aware of any clinical trial evidence that suggests a link between Propecia and these adverse effects, it’s possible to experience other negative side effects. These side effects may include:
Serious side effects that can occur following the use of Propecia include:
These side effects can also occur in men who have had a previous allergic reaction to Propecia or similar drugs. In these cases, the doctor will need to monitor the patient for signs of a serious allergic reaction.
The FDA is currently conducting a clinical trial to evaluate the safety and efficacy of finasteride, which is the active ingredient in Propecia. The study involved more than 1,100 men with mild to moderate male pattern baldness. One hundred percent of these men were treated with the drug, finasteride, for a period of five years. The results of the study showed that finasteride led to a significantly increased incidence of hair loss and improved hair density. This benefit was maintained over time, and continued to improve over time. These results suggest that the drug may be an effective treatment for male pattern baldness.
In addition to the above-listed side effects, the FDA is also investigating whether finasteride can increase the risk of developing depression. This is a potentially dangerous interaction that can result in depression. The FDA is evaluating whether finasteride can increase the risk of developing depression.
Show MoreFinasteride is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor, a medication that lowers testosterone levels in men by reducing the conversion of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is a hormone that plays a major role in the development and maintenance of male characteristics, including thinning hair, erectile dysfunction, and ejaculation disorders. The drug is sold under the brand name Propecia. The drug is available as a tablet and a oral solution for the treatment of male pattern baldness.
Propecia was first approved by the FDA in 1992 for the treatment of male pattern baldness. The drug can be prescribed for men between the ages of 18 and 64 years old with the condition, which is characterized by thinning hair and bald patches. The FDA also reviewed the potential risks and benefits of taking Propecia for male pattern baldness. While this medication has been linked to some degree of hair loss and thinning, the risk is relatively small and can be managed by taking the medication at a low dose. The side effects associated with Propecia include decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, and decreased semen volume. These adverse effects have been reported in association with the use of Propecia.
The FDA is also studying the possible effects of finasteride on other medical conditions. In particular, the drug's potential to cause mental health problems such as depression and anxiety has been investigated.
The drug has been associated with a significant increase in the risk of developing certain types of cancers, such as breast and uterine cancer, in women. Studies have shown that the drug may have a similar risk to the use of birth control pills in women who use hormonal contraceptives. This is important because the risk may increase in certain types of cancer, such as uterine cancer. Additionally, there is evidence that the use of the drug during pregnancy may have a higher risk of harm to the developing fetus. The drug is not approved for use in women who are breastfeeding.
The FDA is also investigating whether finasteride can increase the risk of developing a type of blood clot known as thrombosis. This is a blood clot that allows blood to clot in the lungs and is known as deep vein thrombosis or DVT. Thrombosis is a blood clot that forms in the lungs that allows blood to clot in the lungs and is known as pulmonary veno-occlusive disease.

RefreshFinasteride is used to treat men with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and male pattern hair loss, also called androgenetic alopecia. BPH is caused by an enlarged prostate. Men with BPH usually have difficulty urinating, a decreased flow of urination, hesitation at the beginning of urination, and a need to get up at night to urinate. Finasteride will make these symptoms less severe and reduce the chance that prostate surgery will be needed. It may be used alone or in combination with other medicines such as an alpha-blocker to treat BPH. For men with hair loss, finasteride will increase the number of scalp hairs but will not increase the amount of body hair.
Finasteride blocks the action of an enzyme called 5-alpha-reductase. This enzyme changes testosterone to another hormone that causes the prostate to grow or hair loss in males. It will increase testosterone levels in the body, which decreases prostate size and increases hair growth on the scalp. The effect of finasteride on the prostate and scalp will only last as long as the medicine is taken. When it is stopped, the prostate begins to grow again and the hair will be lost.
